Genesee Yacht Club has a strong commitment and enthusiasm for Racing. We are known for our competitive Tuesday Night and Weekend Club Racing. Weekend Racing consists of Long Distance and Series races. We also facilitate Informal & informative "Pizza Races" where all can learn the basics of racing or hone racing skills without the pressure of competitive racing. GYC host two traditional signature races, the Scotch Bonnet and the Women Skippers Invitational. We also co-host the Hospice Regatta and are a participating club in the South Shore Racing Council.

Scotch Bonnet Light Race

Genesee Yacht Club is the sponsor of one of the engaging traditions of Lake Ontario sailboat racing - the Scotch Bonnet Light Race. The race starts Friday evening off Rochester, New York. The course crosses Lake Ontario overnight - around legendary Scotch Bonnet Island at the north central shore of the lake - and returns to Rochester.

Women Skippers Invitational

The Women Skippers Invitational is a Genesee Yacht Club Regatta that showcases the abilities of Women Skippers. The regatta has competitive Genoa and Spinnaker Fleets and a non-competitive Genoa "Fun Fleet." Additional awards are presented to fleet winners with all women crew. This event is open to all Women Skippers regardless of affiliation with any yacht club.

WSI 2007 Information & Registration

The Regatta features a day of racing. All proceeds from The Hospice Regatta go to the Hospice Endowment Fund to support delivery of hospice and palliative care services to patients and families in Monroe, Wayne and Seneca counties. This Fund pays for services for uninsured individuals, provides start-up funds for new services, and covers costs of volunteer assistance, pastoral support, and bereavement counseling.
